Math DepARTMENT
PRESENTING SOLUTIONS
Mathematics is its own language. When you complete a math assignment and solve your problems, you are communicating to the reader in the language of mathematics. Your goal in writing solutions to your assignments should be to aim your solution at a fellow student who is just slightly below your level of comprehension - explain each step and make the process easy to follow so the reader does not have to 'interpret' what you have done. Your ability to present your solutions clearly will be included in the Communication portion of your term mark and will also be evaluated on all Midterms and Final exams.
The following is a guide for communication in mathematics: Presentation and Technical Errors. You may wish to bookmark or print this guide for easy reference as you complete your assignments.
