The goals of science courses in Ontario, as outlined in the curriculum document, are:
  1. to relate science to technology, society and the environment
  2. to develop the skills, strategies, and habits of mind required for scientific investigation
  3. to understand the basic concepts of science
General Course Information/Structure
All of our online science courses address the goals outlined above by making connections to everyday life, incorporating labs and focusing on key concepts. Online courses do include labs and these are either virtual or something that students can conduct at home. Safety is a primary concern in all science courses, even in an online format. Our science courses will begin with a safety section, be sure to go through this content.

Most of our science courses at St. Nicholas are structured to be completed in approximately 6 weeks and will have a final RST, at the end of the course. All of the assignments, including the RST, can be completed from home.
  • For grade 9 and 10 courses, the final RST is worth 10% of the final mark.
  • For grade 11 and 12 courses, the final RST is worth 20% of the final mark.
Our science teachers are located at both campus locations. They are available to you for help by email, phone or in person Mon-Fri from 9-11:45am and 12:30-3:00pm (make an appointment before arriving).

Our teachers look forward to working with you through out your course and will accommodate you as a learner however they can. Questions - just ask.
